Project7

North America Fire Mapping.  This is a three year project sponsored by NASA to map the North America forest fire history for years 1985 - 2000.  Beginning at mid-2000, this project requires processing 16 years of daily NOAA/AVHRR data to detect daily hotspots such that finally mapping annual burned scars in the North America.  Besides, this project also requires studying on when (what season) the burned scars happen and how large areas were burned and what factors caused the burned scars happening.  The project is joined by four organizations: UC Berkeley, Canada CCRS, USFS and NASA-data center.
